So. We observe how they treat us, and each other, for the first week or two and see who comes to us. If we need to, we can find at least one or two people to try and vouch for us amongst strangers.
[sometimes you have a little bit of experience with this as someone who infiltrated an enemy camp pretending to be someone else.]
I'm pretty decent at that. You never know how a battle is going to go, even when you go in with a plan, so you have to be ready to think on your feet at all times.
That's sort of what I was hoping for. Even if we have a plan and should have a plan...we can't be too careful or too comfortable. We'll have to be ready for anything.
[he says, as a skeletal arm pops out of the ground and nico gently pats it back into the dirt. there, there.]
Most of our battles have plans, but I've lost track of the number of times we've had to change directions in the middle.
[sei shoots a slightly disturbed look at the skeletal arm, but nico has it underground soon enough.
there there... begone...]
...right. We've had plans going into things too and have had to do things differently than we expected to, especially when the enemy came up with something we didn't anticipate. I think most of us are used to this, so... we should be fine here, no matter what that Nightman bastard throws at us.
A last resort. [that's not a no. it's just...cautionary.]
...we should make sure the others know how to defend themselves though, I think. The guests might be ready to attack when we do finally show up. My partner attempted to fight one of our hosts on the first day we were at the castle.
That makes sense. I would have attacked my host, too, if I had reason to think anything would come of it. Hopefully after having gone through this once already they'll know not to, but I'm sure they'll be incredibly frustrated at having to do this all over again...
[she hums.]
Most of us know at least a little self-defense already, don't we?
They probably know not to, but I agree. Frustration sometimes gets the better of people...who knows what they'll say?
[he wipes a grave clean as he thinks.]
Mm...I think so, yes. We have an advantage of having abilities we can use and our own strengths, but our "guests" could very well bring surprises in their luggage we have to look out for.
[she nods, wondering briefly if she should be insulted nico seeming a little surprised but choosing to move on instead. they have work to do and plans to make.]
It'd probably be a little too obvious that we're trying to avoid bloodshed if we confiscate all of their weapons, but we can try to make things a little less dangerous where we can. That includes with their stuff, too.

...yeah, that makes sense.

[
she hates waiting.]
no subject
That's not going to be a problem, is it?
[he's not always a fan of waiting either, but he is aware that sometimes you have to bide your time to get what you want.]
no subject
[yes.
yes it is.]
no subject
it's fine. nico knows how to bide his time, but he also understands that it can't always be that way.]
...how good are you at improvising, actually?
no subject
[she smiles.]

You don't think the Nightman secretly has a plan for this particular scenario, do you?
[bastards like that guy tend to be either very egotistical or very paranoid, and he's not sure which side the nightman falls on right now.]

[...]
So if that happens, let's just stab him.

[like guns.]
no subject
Maybe we should go through their luggage first and make sure it's not anything we won't know how to deal with.
[
is this how the guns end up with only one bullet each. did they just steal their bullets.]
no subject
That...is a very smart idea. Confiscate anything they could use to blow our cover or kill us, or each other, much sooner.
